All units must have a Unit Guide created (or updated) by the Unit Chair for each trimester the unit is offered. The Unit Guide describes the unit rationale, learning outcomes, content and assessments for your unit in the nominated trimester. All unit guides are set up using the University Unit Guide template, which is stored in an online database called BRUCE.
It is important that Unit Guides are written using inclusive, student-centred language and tone of voice. You can access resources from Deakin’s Equity and Diversity Division on inclusive teaching, including the use of inclusive language.
Staff in the Academic Compliance and Curriculum Group create the first draft of a unit guide, following which Unit Chairs will be advised to log in to BRUCE to complete the document online. Completed Unit Guides will be reviewed by the Curriculum team and uploaded to your relevant CloudDeakin unit site prior to the commencement of each trimester.
Access to Callista (student database) is required in order to log into the BRUCE system. If you do not already have access to Callista and BRUCE, registration can be arranged through your Corporate Services Team member.
