Overview of administrative activities
The preparation for running a unit requires the unit chair to design learning and teaching resources, activities and assessments.,as well as complete administrative tasks to ensure students receive all necessary information pertaining to the unit.
You need to allow at least eight weeks before the trimester of offer to design and develop the learning resources, etc. and the following administrative tasks need to be finalised in the months/weeks in the lead up to the commencement of the trimester:
- Order Textbooks*
- Create Unit Guide
- Set up Unit Site in CloudDeakin
- Update/Set up the Talis Reading List
- Recruit Sessional/Casual Staff/Complete the Casual Staff Plan

Please note: You should commence the design and development of learning resources and the preparation of learning and teaching activities well in advance (at least eight weeks before the start of the trimester of offer).
If this isn’t possible, seek out one of the learning designers in Learning Innovations to work with you on the unit well before it’s due to be taught next time.
*Textbook orders are finalised during the previous Trimester.
