BCEL Practical tips and strategies for giving student feedback

Overview                                                                                                    

The overall aims of this session is to discuss what is good feedback, share practical tips and strategies for giving good student feedback and marking online, and making the most out of available digital tools and resources.  

In this hour and a half session, participants will be asked to share their experiences about what has worked/what hasn’t for them. There will also be an opportunity for ‘hands-on’ practice to try out and make the most out of available CloudDeakin and digital tools.

The literature on Feedback is vast, here are few key ones to get you started :

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss what is feedback?
  • Review the importance of feedback from eVALUate and CEQ results
  • Some tips and strategies for giving feedback
  • Some tips on training students to give feedback to peers
  • Show & Tell: the good, the bad and the ugly
  • Utilising CloudDeakin and digital tools are available to staff to give feedback and mark assignments online (i.e. managing assignment dropbox, rubrics, grades, Turnitin and audio/video feedback)
