Deakin is piloting the use of an enterprise license of Mentimeter as part of the Digital Learning Environment 3 Collaboration project. Mentimeter is a digital polling software and presentation tool that enables interactivity and engagement using real-time digital polling.

Digital Polling can be used in teaching and learning spaces for many reasons. It can increase student engagement and participation while also increasing student feedback around threshold concepts enabling academics to adapt content. Rapid feedback can be provided by students. It also enables creating a sense of cohort between cloud based students and campus based students. In addition to digital polling, Mentimeter allows interactive questions and slides, quiz competitions, word clouds, and analysing data.
